Our Yoga Alliance accredited online Chair Yoga course is a comprehensive, supportive training designed for yoga teachers, health professionals, and movement facilitators who want to make yoga truly accessible. This course equips you with the skills, confidence, and understanding to safely teach chair-based yoga for older adults, people living with chronic conditions, and those with limited mobility.

Whether you are new to chair yoga or looking to deepen your existing practice, this training blends theory, practice, and reflective learning to help you become a confident, compassionate chair yoga teacher.

What You’ll Learn

This Hybrid Chair Yoga Teacher Training is made up of four in-depth modules, guiding you step-by-step through the foundations and application of chair-based yoga.

You will learn how to:

  • Understand the foundations of chair-based yoga, including its principles, benefits, and scope of practice

  • Teach safe, inclusive, and engaging chair yoga sessions, adapting yoga practices for a wide range of abilities and health conditions

  • Use inclusive, trauma-aware, and body-positive language that supports autonomy, dignity, and choice

  • Confidently support older adults and people living with chronic conditions, including arthritis, osteoporosis, neurological conditions, and fatigue-related illnesses

This training emphasises accessibility, respect, and real-world application, ensuring your teaching meets people where they are.

Blended Online & In Person Training 

The course includes 3 live online sessions and one in person studio session in Sheffield, where we:

  • Explore course content in depth

  • Engage in meaningful discussion and shared learning

  • Built confidence to teach

  • Learn and practice chair yoga sequencing and asana 

These sessions are interactive and experiential, offering space to ask questions and learn from others in a supportive environment. Attendance is strongly encouraged to gain the full benefit of the training.

All sessions will be recorded and made available to support your learning, however live participation is highly recommended to deepen understanding and confidence.

Self-Study & Learning Activities

Alongside the live sessions, you will complete guided self-study to integrate your learning and develop your teaching voice.

This includes:

  • Guided self-study using the course handbook and learning platform

  • Reflective journaling and written learning activities for each module

  • Time spent observing, practising, and planning chair yoga sessions

Participants should expect to dedicate regular time between sessions to reading, reflection, and practice. This independent study is an essential part of developing confidence and competence as a chair yoga teacher.
